Combination Standard 12 Point Wrench
The combination standard 12 point wrench is like a standard 6 point wrench and jumbo box set combination wrench. They are not significantly different in features or shapes. Looks similar. Just the sizes are different. And the closed-end differs them. For example, a 6 point closed-end wrench has 6 contact points between the nut and the tool while the 12 points closed-end wrench has a 12 contact point between the wrench and the nut or bolt. Besides the contact points and the sizes, they are alike. No big difference.
In addition, the 12 point wrench also maintains the wrench sizes in order. They start with the smallest option 1/4 inch that ends up to 2 inches. Moreover, the wrenches also come in various lengths, especially arm lengths that let you choose the right size tool for your job.
A 12 point of contact in the wrench’s closed-end allows the wrench to grip the nuts or bolts more tightly and it works better than 6 points of contact in the wrench. It helps to have a tighter grip that hardly slips off of the wrench. Once you reach the tighter grip, you can have more leverage moving the wrench.

Combination Standard Open End Wrench
The combination standard open-end wrench features a “closed-end” or “an opened end”. You can understand the meaning of seeing the title, right? The open-end combination standard wrench must have an open end on both sides of the tool. These types of wrenches don’t allow two different ends. The design may differ from one end to another but both of them must be open-ended. However, the design of the two open ends will face opposite directions that offer more utility from your wrench.
Speaking of sizes, the combination standard open-end wrench also follows the wrench sizes in order. The standard open-end wrench option comes in various sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches. You can find this open-end wrench in both of the options; a standard size set or a metric size set. Having a complete set of standard sizes is great for you but if you have metric sizes besides standard size, it would be awesome. Let’s now see different wrench sizes in the order of the SAE open-end wrench.

Combination Standard Short Wrench
We have already discussed various and different types of wrenches. Are they all good at working in tight or hard-to-reach spaces? Well, if they cannot do the job properly, the combination standard short wrench is the best tool you will have to get this job done easily. These types of standard short wrenches have a shorter handle that allows you to access the tight places that a general or long-handled wrench cannot access. Keep in mind, since the standard short wrenches are smaller in size, they will provide less torque and power compared to that those have a bigger and larger handle and size. So, what are wrench sizes? Means standard short wrench sizes are in order? Well, let’s see it.

Wrench Conversions
Wrench Size Conversion Chart (SAE to Metric)
After we know the wrench sizes in order, we will learn the wrench conversions from SAE to MM. without having proper knowledge of it, you cannot determine which size of wrench you would need.
Manufacturers always follow a standard size of nuts or bolts because those are shipped all over the world. But yes, they can be named differently depending on the region. The most common systems are Metric sizes and Standard sizes. Metric sizes are used millimeters as the measurement unit, while standard sizes are measured in inches. Knowing metric and standard sizes is important in order to complete a project because they sometimes need to toggle between them.
If you are a professional, you must know how an incorrect wrench size can harm the head edges of nuts or bolts. It may round off the square bolt head edges. So, be careful about choosing the right wrench while working on any project.
Wrench Size Chart for Bolts
We have given adequate information about the wrench size chart for bolts on the above. Nevertheless, you can also follow this chart too. This chart will help you choose the right size of wrenches for your project. Without a correct size of a wrench, a nut or bolt’s head’s edge can round off. So, choosing the proper size of a wrench for the bolt or nut is important.

What are SAE wrench sizes?
SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. It denotes a wrench size of a standard size. The wrench head size can be measured in two ways; standard system and metric system. In this case, SAE mentions the standard size of a wrench head. A standard-size wrench is measured by “inches” while a metric-size wrench is measured by millimeters. You should know, standard wrench sizes range from 1/4 inch to 2 inches. However, the jumbo combination box set wrench can range from 2 inches to 4 inches.
How are wrench sizes measured?
The closed end of a wrench head consists of a hexagonal shape. You can see the distances from one flat side to the hexagon’s adjacent flat side. This is called a spanner. Knowing about spanners is important because a standard wrench’s head is usually measured by its spanner dimension. For example, if you pick a 2-inch standard wrench, it means the measurement of 2 inches would be from parallel flat sides on the hexagonal wrench head. You can know more here.
How do you figure out your wrench size?
Figuring out the right and proper wrench to adjust a bolt or nut for your project can be a challenge. Measure the bolt size if you want to know which size wrench is appropriate for the nut or bolt you are going to fasten or unfasten. So, how do I do it?
First off, measure the diameter of the nut/bolt and then multiply it by 1.5. For example, if the bolt measures 1/2″ or .5 inches across, multiply the number now by 1.5 and you will get the answer. So, .5 multiplying by 1.5 results in 0.75 which can be told 3/4 of an inch. So, to adjust a .5” bolt size, a 3/4 inch wrench will be required.
Remember, this calculation is applicable and valid for both metric and standard bolt sizes.
